King Edward VI School, Southampton - 5 May Open Event

Educating children since 1553, King Edward VI School is Southampton’s oldest school and one of the south coast’s leading co-educational secondary institutions academically; over 80% of leavers attend Russell Group universities and around 10% accept places at Oxbridge. However, academia is not the sole focus. The flourishing co-curricular programme provides additional stimulus and depth of learning, whilst equipping students with the practical skills to be successful in the wider world.

Over 50 clubs operate each term with everything from astronomy to beekeeping. Opportunities to participate in regular exchanges across the globe sit alongside expeditions to Nepal, scientific research in the Galapagos, Iceland, and Indonesia, and community projects in South Africa. The state-of-the art Dobson Theatre sits at the heart of a dynamic creative arts programme; a hive of dramatic and musical activity, external lecturers, and student public speaking. The thirty-three acre Wellington Sports Ground has nurtured Olympic athletes, including Iain Percy.

Students from King Edward’s are found in all walks of life, leaving with skills that every employer will prize and the independence of mind to shape meaningful changes.

Open Evening The annual Open Evening is a fun, interactive, busy event where children can try out experiments and go on a treasure hunt, and families can watch performances and hear from the Head.
