Bede’s Senior School

Bede’s is a coeducational independent school for 13-19 year olds. The School is set in 140 beautiful acres of the Sussex Downs and is situated in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Special Scientific Interest.

Our current pupil roll has over 300 of our pupils boarding at one of our five stunning boarding houses which were recognised by the Institute of Chartered Surveyors in 2013 for their Outstanding Design and Innovation.

Bede’s is a place where every pupil is truly treated as an individual and where we enrich young people in a holistic way – not only for success in the material sense but in ways which enable them to flourish meaningfully, as rounded human beings.

We are also, significantly, firm believers that if children are happy during their time in school then their happiness will inform their successes – so much so that every teacher and pupil at Bede’s is united by the idea that if we support one another and work hard then we can all exceed every expectation.

Open Mornings

Our Open Mornings, held in March and September, offer an opportunity for a first informal visit to Bede’s. Families are shown around the school by one of our pupils, who will make sure you have plenty of time to look at the areas of the school you are particularly interested in. The Headmaster gives a short talk during the morning and some of our pupils relate their experiences of Bede’s. All key staff are available to meet.

Individual Tours and Introductory Chat

Some families prefer to book an individual tour and introductory chat without attending an Open Morning, others book after an Open Morning. One of our pupils will be your guide for the tour and, as well as making sure you see all that is important to you, he or she will be very happy to answer questions.

The tour is followed by a chat with one of our senior staff, who will offer guidance on the Admissions Process and again, answer any questions. For pupils looking to join Bede’s in Year 9, we recommend that the visits take place when your son or daughter is in Year 6 or earlier.
