Shiplake College is a boarding and day school based in beautiful Oxfordshire countryside near Henley-on-Thames. It is a community that focuses on kindness, personal bests and positive attitudes. As it continues its successful transition to becoming fully co-educational, it grew from 535 at the end of 2024-2025 to a record school roll of over 580 in September 2025, with 40% girls in Years 7 to 9 and in the Sixth Form.

Shiplake College continues to evolve as the school grows, not just in pure numbers, but in its ambition and aspiration. Seven new playing fields, a full-size artificial pitch for hockey, netball and tennis, a 3G training MUGA and additional cricket nets were all introduced during 2024-2025 and significantly improved the school’s sporting provision. Simultaneously, ten more classrooms and five new science laboratories have been created in recent months, and a new Sixth Form Centre was introduced in September 2025.

Every pupil is placed at the heart of Shiplake life and the College’s ethos is underpinned by the Three Is – Inclusive, Individual and Inspirational. The setting is beautiful and uplifting but it is the people who provide the magic and create Shiplake’s authentic and unique culture. When you walk through the doors you will be greeted by warm smiles and exuberant waggy tails.

Flexi, weekly and full boarding is available from Year 9 and a vibrant boarding community enjoys a programme of evening and weekend activities. Shiplake does not select on the grounds of academic ability alone - applications are welcome from all pupils who have the potential to make the most of the wealth of opportunities offered.
