Taunton School is one of the country’s leading co-educational independent schools. Founded in 1847 on a beautiful 56-acre site in the heart of Somerset, Taunton School caters for students from 0 to 18-years-old in an environment where they can thrive academically, socially and emotionally, as either day or boarding students.

Taunton School is a welcoming community of five separate schools: a Senior School, a Preparatory School, a Pre-Preparatory, a Nursery and a pioneering International School. With an ethos rooted in kindness and compassion, the school celebrates each individual child, unearthing potential by allowing students to explore their passions through a wealth of academic, sporting and performing arts opportunities, so that they find their exceptional and become well-rounded, confident individuals with a global mindset. Our rich and diverse community spans more than 60 countries around the world, plus students from across the UK and a range of backgrounds including military families.

With more than 150 co-curricular activities and clubs on offer, plus over 120 sports teams in 20+ sports, there is a wealth of opportunity available ensuring every student can explore where their talents and passions lie. The school’s performing arts department has a similarly wide offering with choirs, orchestras, bands, theatre and dance productions to suit students with any level of experience. Assisted places and scholarships are available for Year 7, Year 9 and Year 12 entry.

Our Open Days are a great way to see our campus and facilities firsthand and meet our heads, teachers and students, as well as our admissions teams, and ask any questions you may have. We also offer bespoke tours across our five schools and virtual open days for families who cannot make an in-person open day.
