Claremont School
"Two campuses in East Sussex."
Principal’s Welcome
Claremont is a wonderful school. Set across two sites of extraordinary beauty, it distinguishes itself in this area of East Sussex as a co-educational day and boarding school for students aged 1 to 18 years. Established in 1925, The Nursery, Pre-Prep and Prep School is set on an 125 acre estate in St Leonards and educates over 400 students.
In 2011, Claremont Senior School was founded in the historic village of Bodiam. Starting with 40 students in 2011, the Senior School is now a well-established centre of learning with over 310 pupils today, a vibrant Sixth Form and two newly refurbished boarding houses. Having been a proprietorial school for years, in February 2018, Claremont School became a member of the International Schools Partnership (ISP) and the flagship British school in a portfolio of 39 schools around the world. Our partnership with ISP has brought with it renewed investment and the opportunity to realise our ambitions to further develop our extensive grounds and already impressive facilities at both school sites. With a thriving Prep School due to celebrate its centenary in 2024, a vibrant and growing senior school and sixth form and having once again been judged ‘Outstanding’ across all categories by Ofsted in March 2019, I believe we have much to be proud of and plenty to look forward to.
At Claremont, we facilitate creativity, academic excellence and independence within a supportive and nurturing environment. We are a caring and considerate school, where all of our students value the opportunities they have been given, forever mindful of those less fortunate than themselves. The many unprompted, pupil-lead fundraising initiatives up and down the School each year are testament to this and a great example of the true spirit of Claremont where pupils instinctively band together in a bid to make a difference.
We welcome pupils from all walks of life and place pupils at the very centre of their own learning so whatever your belief, creed, ability (academic or otherwise), you really can be yourself at Claremont.
I hope you will visit us soon.

Private Tours and ‘Open House Week’
There is no better way to get a feel for student life at Claremont than by visiting us in person. We hold three Open House Weeks a year, in October, March and May. During Open House Week, our visitors are able to tour our beautiful sites, meet the Heads of School and teaching team, chat with students, view their work and enjoy some delicious refreshments along the way. For working parents and those that live further away, we also offer Saturday Open Mornings when visitors are able to also take part in interactive challenges at both sites and and woodland adventure trails at our Prep School in St Leonards on Sea.
If you would like to join us for our next Open House Week, please contact our Head of Admissions, Lily Lam on 01580 830396 to reserve your place, or to book a private tour at a time to suit you and your family.
